Nominations open for Human
Rights Hall
Nominations are now being
received for the Nipissing District Human Rights Hall of Fame.
This year's inductee will
be recognized at the 24th annual Evening of Applause, in conjunction
with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,
March 21 at Chippewa Secondary School.
Event organizers are the
North Bay & District Multicultural Centre, all four school boards,
Canadore College and Nipissing University.
To nominate someone who has
demonstrated leadership in the areas of anti-racism, human rights or
international development contact the selection committee, in care of

Existing members of the Hall
of Fame are Andrew Hazelwood, Sandy Foster, John Hetherington, Gary
Gould, Dr. Ron Common, Marianna Couchie, Kathy Hallett, Sister Jeanne
Castonguay, Maurice Switzer, Barbara Minogue, Capt. Ed Smith, Geniza
Ortega, Don Jacobs, Andre and Anne Marie Dupuis, Dr. Rod Johnston, Andre
Corbeil, Mariela Karpecki, Violet "Ma" Woodward, Marie Marchand,
Rita Sullivan, Judi Brewer, George Wallace, Dr. Glenda Simms, and Rev.
Jim Sinclair.
Their photographs are displayed
near the main entrance of Canadore College.
The deadline for nominations
is March 7.
