The parent organization
to the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre is Young People's
Press, an anti-racism organization that also operates a news service
for youth across North America.
Susan Church
is the chair of the board. She is general manager of Blue Sky Economic
Development Corporation and co-owner of Mexicali Rosa's restaurant.
A former member of North Bay City Council, she has co-chaired the
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination organizing
committee for many years.
Joanne Bénard,
superintendent of education for the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic
District School Board, has also served on the International Day
organizing committee for many years.
Gary Gould,
former CEO of The Canadian Centre for Social Justice and Communitas
Canada, was the co-founder of Young People's Press. He is the co-founder
of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
project and the Human Rights Hall of Fame.
Dennis Mong
is a North Bay real estate broker and businessman. His DOT Connection
team at Century 21 Blue Sky Region Reality Inc. Includes Owen Hong
and Tambra Toll. Born in China, he has lived in North Bay for many
years. His annual Chinese New Year celebration at Partners on Main
attracts more than 200 people and his annual charity golf tournament
is always well supported.
Ainul Ahmed
was born in Bangladesh, and is the president of the North Bay Muslim
Association. He is actively working to create an "exemplary
and unifying Islamic organization in Northern Ontario that contributes
to the Muslim community and society at large. To provide a central
meeting place by establishing of a Masjid to accommodate our core
members, children and transient Muslims like students and short
term visitors to North Bay".
