  • A welcoming environment where members of the *LGBTQ2S+ community are able to access inclusive services with dignity and respect

  • Employees can work free from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

  • It is everyone's responsibility to create Positive Spaces by challenging homophobia and heterosexism, transphobia, biphobia and cisexism.

  • An ongoing process.

  • Positive Spaces are also welcoming environments where LGBTQ2S+ newcomers are able to access culturally inclusive services with dignity and respect. LGBTQ2S+ newcomers are an integral, though often invisible, part of immigrant and refugee communities, as well as LGBTQ2S+ communities. Experiencing marginalization from within both cultural communities and mainstream LGBTQ2S+ communities often leaves individuals feeling that there are few options for obtaining services.

*LGBTQ2S+ = lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and 2-spirit; the plus sign acknowledges and represents other identities not explicitly listed in the acronym
