North Bay and Area Local Immigration Partnership

Formerly the North Bay Newcomer Network

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are community-wide, multi-sectoral partnerships working to strengthen a community’s capacity to welcome newcomers and improve integration outcomes through enhanced economic, social, political and civic participation. A community non-profit organization or municipality hold the contract for each LIP. There are 77 LIP community initiatives across Canada, they are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). LIPs do not provide direct services to newcomers (i.e. settlement services). Rather, they seek to increase the absorptive capacity of host communities by engaging a range of stakeholders and enhancing collaboration and strategic planning at the community-level.
